By keeping source code secret, Tesla is making its cars more dangerous and depriving owners of the ability to fix problems promptly.

We call on Tesla to provide complete source code for all copylefted software distributed to customers, as required by agreements. While certification requirements for software modifications are necessary for safety, Tesla’s insistence on proprietary software, despite safety concerns, is alarming. We urge all companies to adhere to copyleft agreements and prioritize safety in automotive software.
